According to the results of the Address Based Population Registration System (ADNKS), with the prestige of the end of 2021, the total population of Turkey was 84 million 680 thousand 273 people, while the young population in the 15-24 age group was 12 million 971 thousand 289 people. The young population constituted 15.3 percent of the total population. 51.3% of the young population was male and 48.7% was female.

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT RATE 22.6 PERCENT

While the youth unemployment rate was 25.3 percent in 2020, it became 22.6 percent in 2021. While the unemployment rate for young men was 22.6% in 2020, 19.4% in 2021, while this rate for young women was 30.3% in 2020, it became 28.7% of 2021.

ONE IN FOUR YOUTH IS IN NO WORK AND EDUCATION

According to the results of the household labor force survey, the youth labor force participation rate was 39.1 percent in 2020, while it was 41.7 percent in 2021. While the labor force participation rate for young men was 50.1 percent in 2020, it was 53.1 percent in 2021, while this rate for young women was 27.5 percent in 2020 and 29.7 percent in 2021.

It is seen that 16.8 percent of young men employed are in agriculture, 35.4 percent in industry, 47.7 percent in services, while 21.0 percent of young women are in agriculture and 21.0 percent in industry. It was seen that 58.0 percent were in the service department.

THE PROPORTION OF YOUTH WHO CANNOT CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION WHILE WANTING 7.6 PERCENT

According to the 2021 results of the Turkey Family Structure Survey, the rate of young people in the 15-24 age group who left their education (including university) despite wanting to continue their education was 7.6 percent. While this rate was 8.0 percent for young men, it was 7.1 percent for young women.

When the reasons for leaving their education unfinished by young people are analyzed, economic reasons take the first place with 48.1 percent, followed by failure in education with 23.6 percent and family disapproval with 10.8 percent.

55.5 PERCENT OF YOUTH ARE UNHAPPY

According to the results of the life satisfaction survey, the rate of those who declared themselves enjoyable among the young population in the 18-24 age group was 47.2 percent in 2020, while it was 44.5% in 2021. The satisfaction rate was 38.2 percent for young men and 51.0 percent for young women in 2021.

According to the results of the life satisfaction survey, in 2021, 76.0 percent of the youth stated that they were happy with their job, and 42.3% said they were happy with the benefits they obtained. While the rate of satisfaction with the job for young men was 77.7 percent, the rate of satisfaction with the benefit obtained was 43.1%, these rates were 72.6% and 40.7 percent for young women.
