‘Theft’ reaction from Kremlin to possibility of using frozen assets in Europe for Ukraine

Kremlin Spokesperson Peskov, in a statement to journalists in the capital Moscow, evaluated the statements of some politicians in Europe that the frozen Russian Central Bank assets could be used for Ukraine.

Stating that they were not informed about the possibility of using the frozen Central Bank assets for Ukraine, Peskov said, “This would be outright theft. Such a decision would be illegal, disproportionate and would of course require an appropriate response.” used his words.

Noting that the issue of ships carrying grain from Ukrainian ports is also on their agenda, Peskov said, “The Ukrainian ports are heavily mined and it is extremely dangerous for ships. A demining operation is needed there. In general, the danger of navigation in these regions are very high.”
