ANKARA (IGFA) – Green Crescent General Leader Mücahit Öztürk invited families on drugs, noting that 15-24 age group is the most risky group for drugs, and said that close attention of the family is a condition in this period.
Green Crescent General Leader Prof. Dr. Mücahit Öztürk, in his written statement on the occasion of June 26, Day of Drug Use and Smuggling and Effort, stated that the age group 15-24 is the most risky cluster in terms of the risk of starting to use drugs.
Saying, “Curiosity, pretentiousness, proving oneself, being deprived of family love, being in a vacuum, unfortunately, can push our young people to drugs,” said Öztürk, “We ask our families to take care of their children closely and contact them . They should be informed about addiction and in cases where treatment is required, they should look at their children not as a fault but as a patient who needs to be adapted.”
Stating that drug use is a common problem of the whole world, Öztürk stated that a total effort is needed with drug addiction and said, “We have to inform the whole society, especially children and young people, about addictions and raise awareness. As the Green Crescent, we bring together scientific and health authorities with national and international congresses, inform the society with our printed publications that we have been continuing for years, reach everyone from 7 to 77 with our training programs, and support academic studies in the field of addiction with our scholarship supports. Within the scope of the High Delegation to Deal with Addiction, we carry out informative and preventive studies in cooperation with all relevant institutions and organizations, and we are instrumental in their realization.”
