The ‘Baltops’ exercise, which is the largest exercise held in the Baltic Sea and has been held every year since 1972, in cooperation with the US Naval Forces in Europe and NATO, started yesterday.
14 NATO countries, including the USA, Germany, France and England, as well as Sweden and Finland are participating in the exercise, which will last until 17 June. This year’s residence ownership of the exercise, which is held in a different country each year, has been should be done by Sweden. A total of 45 ships, 75 warplanes and 7,000 workers take part in the exercise, in which Sweden and Finland have participated for a long time. Despite this, it was noteworthy that Turkey’s participation in the exercise remained at the “observer” level.
