Sri Lankan prime minister says the country is running out of oil

A statement came from Sri Lanka, which has experienced the biggest economic crisis in its history.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said in a statement, “We’re out of gas, we only have one day’s stock of oil.”

While protests were held in Sri Lankan streets calling for the resignation of State Leader Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Government was now desperately waiting for the aid package from the IMF.

After the Central Bank of Sri Lanka announced that it could no longer pay the country’s foreign debt due to the lack of foreign currency assets, India announced that it would lend an additional $500 million to Sri Lanka.
