The Spanish Supreme Court has called on the CEO of Israel’s software firm NSO Group to appear as a witness in the lawsuit filed against Spanish politicians for espionage with spyware called Pegasus developed by the firm.
According to Reuters, the Spanish Supreme Court said in a statement that Judge Jose Luis Calama will go to Israel to investigate the spying of politicians in Spain.
Judge Calama will question the CEO with a rogatory (legal aid) committee to be held between Israel and Spain.
Pegasus spyware is defined as a strategic cyber weapon created by NSO Group, Israel’s best-known cyber espionage and technology company. Pegasus is only sold to state intelligence services and law enforcement agencies.
