Bursa Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, sampling for the Sharjah Virus in Gürsu district has been completed.

BURSA (IGFA) – In accordance with the “Regulation on Plant Passport System and Registration of Operators” and “Instruction on Effort with Orchard Disease”, leaf samples were taken from the fruit sapling producing enterprises in Bursa’s Gürsu district by the technical staff of the District Directorate.

Samples taken as part of the survey were sent to Yalova Atatürk Horticultural Central Research Institute for analysis.

Noting that the yield of stone fruit trees (especially plum, apricot, peach and nectarine) infected with the Sharjah virus decreases as a result of the disease, early fruit drop and fruit deformations are observed, Bursa Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry said in a written statement, “There is no chemical effort for the Sharjah virus. If a disease is infected in a region, it is very difficult to eradicate the disease. The only cure is to always control to prevent the virus from entering the region, to make regular efforts with aphids, which is one of the carriers of the virus, and to take the seedlings from nurseries that produce free from oriental virus. The analysis of leaf samples taken from peach, nectarine, plum, apricot, cherry and sour cherry saplings in enterprises producing fruit saplings within the scope of survey studies is of great importance.
