ANKARA (IGFA) – The 2021 Turkey Report, which is the recommendation of the European Parliament (EP), was accepted at the EP General Assembly.

In a written statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that while the need to strengthen the links between Turkey and the EU through mutual efforts is obvious, they do not accept and reject the EP’s shallow and visionless approach, ignoring this need and making prejudiced and unrealistic assessments.


“Our primary expectation from the EP is that it does not become an instrument in the agenda of narrow-minded circles and that it displays an encouraging attitude towards EU institutions in order to revive the participation negotiation process,” said the Ministry. This attitude of the EP, which even tolerates terrorist propaganda, is not surprising. Thus, the AP has lost both its credibility and credibility in the eyes of the Turkish public.”

In the written statement, the Ministry gave the following views:

“The arguments regarding democracy, rule of law and human rights our country in the report and the baseless views reflecting the narrow-minded efforts of one or two EU members in the Aegean, Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus issues do not make any decisions for us Our expectation from the EU is, first of all, the entire EU. institutions to fulfill their obligations towards Turkey, in this context, revitalizing the participation process, accelerating the Visa Liberalization Dialogue, starting the negotiations for the update of the Customs Union, increasing the cooperation in the fight against terrorism, and in particular the implementation of the Willing Humanitarian Readmission Plan within the scope of migration cooperation. This report, which evaluates Turkey with a shallow perspective instead of encouraging steps to be taken on these issues, constitutes a new example of the ideology and biased attitude of the EP, detached from the facts, and only damages the EP’s prestig to.
