It has been reported that the US government has purchased 105 million doses of the new type of corona virus (Covid-19) vaccine developed by the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the German biotechnology company BioNTech.
In the statement made by Pfizer and BioNTech, it was stated that a memorandum of understanding was signed with the US government to supply 105 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, to be delivered as soon as possible this summer.
According to the statement, the US government will share $3.2 billion for the new party.
The agreement includes the supply of updated Covid-19 vaccines against the Omicron variant, which are reported to show higher immunity than the original vaccine and are pending approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
It is noteworthy that while the price per dose of the US government was $ 19.50 in the first contract that the US government signed with companies to supply the Covid-19 vaccine, the price per dose of the updated vaccine was over $ 30 in the new vaccine contract.
Pfizer and BioNTech also stated that the US administration has the option to purchase up to 195 million additional doses of the vaccine in question. Thus, the US government has guaranteed to receive a total of 300 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine with the latest agreement.
