Parliament Speaker Şentop met with his Chinese counterpart

Parliamentary Leader Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop held a meeting with Li Zhanshu, the Leader of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress, using a video conference formula.

ANKARA (IGFA) – According to the statement made by the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, at the meeting held in line with the request of the Chinese side, cooperation and economic ties in projects carried out in various fields in the middle of Turkey and China were discussed in this process where rapid developments are experienced in the international and regional arena. The contribution of the mid-parliamentary cooperation to the relations between the two countries was emphasized. As a result of the joint will of the State Leaders, it was mentioned that Turkey-China relations have gained momentum in recent years.

Parliamentary Leader Mustafa Şentop stated that the People’s Republic of China occupies a special place within the scope of Turkey’s Asia Again Initiative.

Saying that he wishes to further strengthen bilateral relations by establishing a systematic dialogue in the middle of the parliaments and increasing mutual visits, Şentop said, “We need to make our bilateral trade with China a more stable and sustainable structure. in Turkey will increase.” he said he.

Parliamentary Leader Şentop mentioned that the cooperation in the projects carried out in various fields will deepen the economic connections, and reiterated his wish for the relations between the two countries to go further.

Expressing that the Uyghur problem has a valuable place for Turkey during the meeting, Parliament Speaker Şentop said, “We have ethnic, religious and cultural ties with the Uyghur Turks. Turkey’s stance on this issue is clear, sincere and moral. We cannot have an understanding of instrumentalization in order to interfere in their internal affairs. We see these people as a bridge between the countries they are in and our country, as an opportunity to develop cooperation and relations, and we continue our policies in this way. We want them to live in a climate where they have freedoms and contribute to the countries they live in as respected citizens of their country.” he said.
