Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, who will present Turkey’s CEDAW 8th Periodic Country Report in Geneva, Switzerland, will attend the Ministerial Conference on aging in Rome.

ANKARA (IGFA) – Minister of Family and Social Services Derya Yanık will attend the 82nd session of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) to be held in Geneva, Switzerland on 14-15 June 2022. Minister Yanık will then go to Rome, the capital city of Italy, to attend the United Nations European Economic Council Ministerial Conference on Aging on 16-17 June 2022.

Turkey’s 8th Periodic Country Report presentation within the scope of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), which is the first contract that sets international standards on women’s rights and is in the middle of the United Nations’ (UN ) basic human rights contracts, took place in Geneva. will be held at the UN Office. Minister Derya Yanık, who will make a speech here, will convey the developments in our country during the CEDAW reporting period. Minister Yanık will also touch on topics such as access to justice, national system, violence against women, education, health, employment, participation in decision-making systems.


On the other hand, Minister Derya Yanık, after the meeting in Geneva, will hold the United Nations European Economic Committee (UNECE) to be held in Rome on 16-17 June 2022 with the title of “A Sustainable World for All Ages: Joining Forces for Longevity Solidarity and Equal Opportunities”. ) will attend the Ministerial Conference on Aging.

Within the scope of the conference, a roundtable meeting will be held at the Ministerial level. Minister Yanık will give a speech titled “Accessing Long-Term Care and Providing Support for Caregivers and Families”. Within the scope of the program, besides roundtable meetings, side events and expert-level panels on aging policies and appropriate practice examples will be held.
