Breaking news! Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated that they had a “very positive” meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken within the scope of the Strategic System.
Highlights from Minister Çavuşoğlu’s statements;
We discussed issues of bilateral relevance. The steps we need to take for our trade volume of 100 billion dollars are about removing some additional customs taxes and restrictions.
“THERE ARE POSITIVE OPINIONS AT THE CONGRESS FOR F-16’S”
We brought up the issue of the delivery of defense industry artifacts to Turkey, the F-16. There are positive opinions in Congress for F-16s.
We also discussed the situation in Ukraine, normalization with Armenia, Syria, Libya and regional bets. We have said that the ongoing war in Ukraine must be ended as soon as possible.
APPLICATIONS TO NATO
In our meeting with Blinken, we discussed applications to NATO. It is unacceptable for candidate countries to reinforce terrorism. We want to be sure of the guarantees they will give.
Blinken said, “Turkey’s concerns must be met.”
Turkey’s security concerns should be resolved in practice, not words. We want to be sure of the guarantees they will give.
The value of cooperation with Turkey has been understood.
In our opinion, we brought up the Halkbank case, which is a politically motivated case. We brought up the unease we felt about the reinforcements given by the USA to the YPG and PKK in eastern Syria, and that it should be ended.
Had a very positive conversation with Blinken. There may also be talks at the Presidential level. We are talking with the USA to solve our problems.
