Metin Gürcan from DEVA was arrested again

Metin Gürcan, one of the founders of the Democracy and Atılım (DEVA) Party, headed by Ali Babacan, for whom a re-arrest warrant was issued upon the objection of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, was arrested.

ANKARA (IGFA) – Metin Gürcan, founding member of DEVA Party, who was released the previous day after being arrested for “political and military espionage”, was arrested again.

Ankara 26th High Criminal Court decided on Wednesday to release Metin Gürcan, the founding member of DEVA Party, who is being held in pre-trial detention with a demand for life sentence and up to 35 years in prison for ‘ military and political espionage’. The prosecutor objected to the court’s decision to release Gürcan.

Metin Gürcan’s lawyer Yusuf Şahin announced the developments on his social media account.

Şahin included the words, “Our client Metin Gürcan came to Ankara from Istanbul after the arrest warrant issued by the Ankara 27th Heavy Penal Court and surrendered to the security forces.”
