Message from China to Turkey: Investments continue to increase

Chinese‘s Ambassador to Ankara Liu Shaobinspoke to İHA about Türkiye-China relations.

Shaobin, Türkiye and ChineseHe stated that Turkey assumed responsibility for ensuring international justice.

Stating that the Chinese side always supports Turkey’s efforts to protect its own security, independence and territorial integrity, Shaobin said:

“We support Turkey to follow the path of development that is appropriate for its own national conditions. We oppose foreign powers’ interference in Turkey’s internal affairs. The Turkish side has also been committed to the ‘one China’ policy for a long time. The Chinese side appreciates this. We hope that the Turkish side will understand and support the Chinese side in its basic interests and important issues. Including issues related to the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.”

“CHINA, TURKEY’S LARGEST TRADING PARTNER IN ASIA”

Shaobin stated that in 2015, China and Turkey signed a memorandum of understanding on the Belt and Road Initiative and the Middle Corridor projects, and said:

“The signing of this memorandum opened a new page in the economic cooperation of Turkey and China. On the other hand, the trade volume between the two sides is increasing. China is currently Turkey’s largest trading partner in Asia and the third largest in the world. According to China’s data, the volume of goods trade between China and Turkey in 2022 reached 38.55 billion dollars with an annual increase of 12.8 percent. Chinese investments in Turkey continue to increase. By the end of 2022, China’s direct investment in Turkey’s industry exceeded $2.4 billion. Its total investment exceeded $3.2 billion. Currently, there are more than a thousand Chinese capital companies in Turkey.”
