LAST MINUTE NEWS: Statement from NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg regarding his meeting with President Erdogan
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made statements at the press conference he held before the NATO Presidents Summit.
Stoltenberg said, “We hope to make progress in today’s meeting with Erdogan,” and used the words “I am grateful to Turkey for its efforts on the Ukrainian grain crisis”.
STOLTENBERG: IT WILL BE A MEETING OF HIGH IMPORTANCE
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the NATO Summit in Spain’s capital Madrid will be a meeting of high value.
Stoltenberg made a statement to the press after visiting the IFEMA Exhibition Center, where NATO Hill will be built, in Madrid on 28-30 June with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
Stoltenberg, who thanked Spain for its hosting and its contribution to NATO, stated that Madrid Hill is a very valuable historical meeting.
Stoltenberg said that at the NATO Summit in Madrid, the Strategic Concept document will be adopted, which will be the roadmap for the alliance in “a more dangerous and less predictable world”.
Stating that an important change will be reached in which more highly prepared forces will be kept in determination and security, Stoltenberg also stated that an agreement will be reached for a comprehensive support package for Ukraine, which is fighting with Russia, and that the basis for Ukraine will continue.
Stoltenberg noted that Sweden and Finland’s membership applications to NATO will also be discussed, that they want to make progress in this regard, and that NATO also wants to invest more in defense.
