ISTANBUL (IGFA) – Women’s cooperatives have completed their digital transformation with the Program of Supporting Women’s Cooperatives from Labor to Basket.
Visa, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Habitat Association announced the first year results of the Women’s Cooperatives Support Program, which was launched in early 2021 as part of the I Can Manage My Money financial literacy project. At the end of the first year of the program, all 14 cooperatives have access to online commerce, sales in the digital marketplace and website infrastructure.
UNDP, Visa and Habitat Association executives, who came to the fore at the event held in Istanbul with 14 women’s cooperatives participating in the program from all over Turkey, announced that 12 new women’s cooperatives were included in the second year of the Program, based on these positive results.
Visa Turkey General Manager Merve Tezel stated that she summarizes our approach based on inclusiveness and equality very nicely with the logo that looks like an equal sign, and said that in this context, they carry out many projects at the same time, both for women’s empowerment and for small businesses to be digitalized and included in the economy.
Noting that the fact that all of the cooperatives have digitized their trade infrastructure is considered a 100% success, Tezel said, “76 percent of women’s cooperatives started e-commerce thanks to the program, 71 percent were able to diversify their sales channels, and Hearing the words ‘Our world has changed’, ‘We took the way we will go in 3 years in 1 year’, ‘We started selling abroad when we started online order’ , ‘Our abundance has increased’ from the cooperatives we provide digitalization support, encourages us for the future of the project. We will continue to stand by the women who produce on the way to digitalization with the Support Program for their Cooperatives”.
