Former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe shot, collapsed to the ground
Former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, collapsed after being shot at an event in the city of Nara.
NHK television announced that Abe, who was shot twice in the back, collapsed in the middle of his speech and appeared to be bleeding. A 42-year-old suspect was also reportedly in custody.
According to the news reported by BBC News, in the image circulating on social media and which cannot be verified by independent sources, it is seen that health officials gather around 67-year-old Abe in the middle of the street. The former Prime Minister was later hospitalized.
“Former Prime Minister Abe was shot at 11:30 am in Nara,” Minister Hirozoku Matsuno told reporters. A person believed to be the attacker was caught. Former Prime Minister Abe’s condition is currently unknown.
Eyewitnesses said that before the attack on Abe, who was in Nara for a campaign speech, they saw a man pulling out a large gun from behind him.
