The process of Finland’s participation in NATO continues rapidly.
Finland made various attempts both at home and abroad to apply for NATO membership within a week.
Finally, Finnish parliamentarians officially approved the country’s accession to NATO by voting 188 yes and 8 no in the parliamentary vote. 3 deputies could not participate in the voting.
The government is expected to apply for NATO membership after discussing the parliamentary decision at the General Assembly of the Government.
NO PREREQUISITES AND NO REFUNDS
The Parliamentary Committee of Foreign Interests reported that the country does not consider it necessary to set preconditions or reservations in the process of applying for NATO membership.
According to the committee, Finland’s security environment deteriorated as a result of Russia’s invasion attempt against Ukraine.
