In the statement made from the office of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, the killing of the experienced Palestinian journalist was strongly condemned and an invitation was made to open an investigation immediately.

In the statement, “A comprehensive and independent investigation is necessary to shed light on the incident as soon as possible and those responsible must be brought to justice. It is unacceptable to aim at journalists while performing their duties. The safety and protection of journalists who report on conflict situations must always be guaranteed.” words were included.

Experienced field reporter of Qatar-based Al Jazeera channel, Cute Abu Akile, said that Israeli soldiers were in the Jenin Refugee Camp in the occupied West Bank early this morning. He was killed by the fire opened by Israeli soldiers while he was following his raid on the city.

Akile, who was seriously injured in the head by the fire opened by real bullets by Israeli soldiers, lost his life even though he was wearing a steel vest with “press” written on it.

The 51-year-old journalist, one of Al Jazeera’s first generation field reporters, had been working in the region for a long time to record Israel’s attacks on the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.

Born in 1971 in Jerusalem, Abu Akile was a graduate of the Department of Journalism and Media at Yermuk University in Jordan.

There were incidents between Israeli forces and Palestinians, who raided Jenin Camp this morning and surrounded a Palestinian’s residence in order to detain him.
