Erdogan met with Stoltenberg

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that he had discussed the NATO membership of Sweden and Finland with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and said, “We agreed to continue negotiations in Brussels and Madrid next week.”

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced on his Twitter account that he had a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Jens Stoltenberg said, “I discussed the applications of Finland and Sweden to NATO with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. We agreed to continue negotiations in Brussels and Madrid next week.”

Following Stoltenberg, President Erdoğan also met with Swedish Prime Minister Andersson.

During the meeting, Erdogan conveyed to the Swedish Prime Minister his demands for the arms embargo and the lifting of legal and actual restrictions on the defense industry.

Erdogan will attend the NATO Summit to be held in Madrid, Spain, on 28-30 June.
