Date given: A hike in Australia’s visa fees is on the way

It has been stated that Australia will increase the visa application fees.

According to ABC News, the federal government’s budget announced yesterday increased the application fees for visitor and immigrant visa types.

In the budget, it was noted that 6 to 40 percent increase in visa fees will generate 665 million dollars in revenue in the next 5 years, and these will be used in the development of visa processes and other public services.

In this context, there will be a 15 percent increase in the fees of short-term visa types such as visitor, short-term work visa and education visa.

The rate of increase in the application fee for investor and entrepreneur visa types was determined as 40 percent.

Con Paxinos, vice-president of the Australian Institute of Migration, said the increases would be good for government revenues but would deal “a very serious” blow to families wishing to come to Australia.

According to the budget, the number of immigrants granted permanent residence in 2023-2024 decreased by 5 thousand compared to the previous year and became 190 thousand.
