Attack on US convoy in Nigeria: 4 dead, 3 kidnapped

According to national media reports, employees of the US embassy in the state of Anambra for humanitarian aid activities were attacked in the Ogbaru region.

According to initial reports, 4 people lost their lives in the attack and many were injured.

Anambra State Police Spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the attack and stated that security forces were dispatched to the region.

On the other hand, in the statement made by the US embassy in Abuja, it was stated that its personnel were in cooperation with Nigerian security officials to get to the root of the incident.

Such attacks are carried out from time to time by the terrorist organization Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in southern Nigeria.

Millions of people died in the civil war that broke out in 1967, when the people of Biafra rose to demand the establishment of the independent state of Biafra in the south of Nigeria.

The Republic of Biafra, which was established in the southeast of the country in 1967, came back under Nigeria’s sovereignty at the end of the civil war.
