76 thousand 778 workers were dismissed in the earthquake zone!
Accordingly, in the first three months of the year, the number of workers who applied to İŞKUR to receive unemployment benefits in 11 provinces in the earthquake zone was 76,778.
THERE ARE 1.6 MILLION WORKERS IN THE REGION
However, a more striking result than this emerges when we look at the February-March 2023 data. Because, considering that the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş center took place on February 6, it is understood that the unemployment benefit applications in this period, namely the dismissals, occurred after the earthquake. Accordingly, in February and March, 50 thousand 319 laborers applied to İŞKUR to receive unemployment benefits. The number of workers who were entitled to receive this money by meeting the harsh conditions regarding the allowance was 21 thousand 14 in the first three months and 9 thousand 401 in February-March.
In addition, when compared to Turkey in general, the collection rate of those who applied for allowance in 11 provinces was 16.6 percent in the first three months and 18.1 percent in February-March. On the other hand, according to the data of the Social Security Institution, the number of workers (4A) in the earthquake zone was calculated as 1 million 594 thousand 468 people as of the end of February 2023.
