TOBB, the umbrella organization of the Turkish business world, decided to create a commemorative forest by planting 70,000 saplings in its 70th year. Under the housing ownership of TOBB Leader Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the Chamber and Stock Exchange community came together at the Union Center in Ankara. Minister of Trade, Mehmet Mus, mentioned that TOBB has become a global actor that cooperates around the world from a local organization. Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the chamber-exchange system in Turkey is set an example in the world and said, “The business world has to run faster in order to bring our country to the place it deserves.”

On the 70th anniversary of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB); Representatives of the business world from 81 provinces met at the Union Center in Ankara. At the meeting hosted by TOBB Leader M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu; Mehmet Muş, Minister of Commerce, Cemil Çiçek, who served as the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Hayati Yazıcı, who served as the Minister of Commerce, deputies, the chamber and exchange administration council, and parliamentary leaders and delegates.
In his speech, Minister of Commerce Mehmet Muş congratulated TOBB’s 70th anniversary and said, “We have always been conscious of the fact that TOBB, which has managed to become one of the strongest and most active organizations in our country, plays a very valuable role in the economic development of our country. The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey has always improved itself since its establishment, and as a result of its 70 years of travel, it has become a valuable global actor that carries out worldwide collaborations and carries our special branch abroad with the missions it has to be unique.”
Minister Mehmet Muş stated that as the government, they have prepared the legislative infrastructure that the companies need, and that successful results in economics depend on the cooperation of the public and private sectors.
Emphasizing that the growth of the Turkish economy despite global developments is valuable, Minister Muş said, “Turkey grew by 7.3 percent in the first quarter of 2022 and maintained its high growth performance.”
TOBB Leader Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu explained that as a community, they have come a long way in 70 years. Announcing that the Board of Directors decided to create a 70th Anniversary Memorial Forest to celebrate its 70th anniversary, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We will plant 70,000 saplings. We will bring this forest, which befits our community, to our country. In this way, we will both contribute to the environment and nature, and leave a permanent legacy to future generations.”
Noting that TOBB has transformed from a local institution to a global actor in 70 years, Hisarcıklıoğlu mentioned that they have joined forces in the private sector with the activities they have increased and the institutional capacity they have developed. Stating that they have come to a position of defending the rights and law of the private sector at the international level, TOBB Leader stated that they have identified the drawbacks in the business and investment environment and conveyed them to the government.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said: “Leading to realize Turkey’s dream of producing cars, realizing TOGG, initiating licensed warehouses, which is our 50-year dream in agriculture, establishing the Turkish Eser Specialized Exchange, opening a Trade Center abroad and offering a wide range of special services . We have reached a level where the Chamber-Exchange system is an example in the world, providing services to the public and facilitating their work. We have become the pioneers of change and transformation. Of course, we still have a lot of work to do. To get our country to the place it deserves, the business world has to run faster.”
